Below are the final numbers from the top 12 films from the North American box office this past weekend.
1. Contagion - $22,403,596
2. The Help - $8,926,142
3. Warrior - $5,242,107
4. The Debt - $4,905,000
5. Colombiana - $3,947,582
6. Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes - $3,886,285
7. Shark Knight 3D - $3,408,413
8. Apollo 18 - $2,851,349
9. Our Idiot Brother - $2,650,538
10. Spy Kids: All The Time In The World - $2,501,432
11. Crazy, Stupid, Love - $2,261,572
12. Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark - $2,166,846
Overall, the US Box Office was down 21% on last weekend's gross.
The standout winner for the weekend was opening film CONTAGION, which was the strongest opening for a film in the past month or so, and especially since THE HELP arrived five weeks ago. The thriller earned a solid $22.4 million, and is a good start given its $60 million budget. The Steven Soderbergh film was also well received by the public and critics, so this could hang around for a while...
