A British geologist locked himself in an airtight container with plants over the weekend to show how we rely on plants to breathe. Steve and Ben discuss this experiment, as well as practical applications of doing this in the real world or in outer space. Missions to the Moon or Mars could take on a whole new meaning as habitats created on these otherwise inhospitable environments would take on the forms of airtight containers with plants to generate the ecosystem within them.
